Huephoria Review and Giveaway!!!

Have you ever heard of Huephoria?  It's a delightful site with high quality, hand-blown, and hand-painted glassware!  Whether you are looking for Christmas decorations or Martini glasses they have everything glass and spectacular designs!  I am originally from the East Coast so I especially like their "Beachy" designs.  For review I received salt and pepper shakers called "crabby" with a hand painted crab on them and organge background.  These are probably the most darling salt andpepper shakers I've ever seen !

You definitely have to check out their designs! They sell a variety of wine glasses, martini glasses, ornaments, wine tags and more. Overall, I love my salt and pepper shakers!!  They are superb quality and are quite the conversation starter at the dinner table.  Not to mention that they are just the right size to take on a picnic!

Where can you find them?  Huephoria is found at dozens of retailers which you can find here by typing in your location.  The closest one to me was a Hallmark shop.  Or you can buy online at Huephoria.com.  Don't forget to check out their sale items to possibly score a dynamite glass piece for a lower cost!

Beanie Weanies Anyone?

Every now and then we have left over hotdogs after we grill.  And since I'm the only one in the entire house who eats "beanie weanies", I make up a special batch just for myself using leftover hotdogs that we've previously grilled.

There's nothing to this. I'm basically just sharing something that I do incase there are other "beanie weanie" lovers out there. Anyhoo, I just slice up the dogs, open up a can of pork and beans then toss in a freezer ready container.

And that's it! Throw those bad boys in the freezer and you have them on hand anytime you want! Plus, if you are sick of those hotdogs you don't have to worry about them going to waste either. Also, on another note, I have added leftover hotdogs to chili cheese nachos and it's actually not bad ;)

Cincinnati Chili Frugal Style

I don't know if many of you know, but I have another blog which I had started many months prior to this one.  It's called The Frugal Bug where I post really just anything frugal natured as well as giveaways etc.  It has nothing to do with recipes but in the beginning I did post a couple of recipes that were "frugal" in nature.  I am also out of town for the week for my sister's wedding so I thought I'd share with you some of my true frugal and very first recipes that I blogged about.  I find them quite cute and humerous when I look back, so enjoy!

(This one is about eating from your pantry.  In other words, not going to the store to buy specific items to make a dish.  You essentially use what you have on hand to save money.)

Cincinnati Chili Frugal Style

Yes, you heard it right!  I am making this famous dish based on what I have in my pantry - Good Luck to me!..lol.  In all actuality, it turned out dandy!  If you've never heard of Cincinnati Chili, you can read about this fabulous twist on chilli/spaghetti HERE.  You can use this on hotdogs, spaghetti noodles or whatever you want.  The cooking police are off today!

Ok, so having said that, this is what ONE cupboard looked like when I decided to creatively cook up something in my pantry......YIKES!  What a mess!  Most of the time I just open it, breath in deep, then close it back and say "I don't know what to cook".  lol.

Here's what I robbed from the cupboard - I robbed more than one plus the fridge ;)

Ingredients:
1 lb Ground Beef
3 cloves  diced Garlic
1 Cinnamon stick
3 tblsp Red Wine Vinegar
8 huge dollops of Worchestershire Sauce
8 dollops of Hot Sauce
4 tbsp Allspice ------spice depending on taste, I always add more anyway - some don't
4 tbsp Accent ------
4 tbsp cayenne pepper -------
6 tbsp chili powder -------
2 cans Diced tomatos
(1 14.5 oz fire roasted w/ garlic)
(1 14.5 oz fire roasted w/ sweet onion)
15 oz can Tomato Sauce
10 oz can Castleberry Hotdog Chili Sauce
2 15oz cans Black Beans DRAINED (normally you would use Kidney Beans, but this is eat from the pantry right?!)
1 box Spaghetti noodles

Toppers:
Shredded Cheddar
Diced Onion

Directions:
Brown ground beef in a big pot.  While browning add diced garlic and 1 cinnamon stick.  When finished browning  add your remaining ingredients except black beans and spaghetti noodles.  Let your pot simmer on low for hours!  Meanwhile taste test it to see if you need to add more spice.  I added salt/pepper, worchestershire sauce and hot sauce.  I like it with a kick!  Next, cook your noodles according to the box directions. Finally, add your beans to your sauce.  (Some use it as a topping instead, but I add mine)

Also, many versions use unsweetened cocoa powder which you can add - but sadly, was not in my pantry.

Layer your plate: Spaghetti noodles, Cincinnati chili, Cheese, and then Onions.

And last but not least please take out your cinnamon stick!..lol

Lucky Leaf Review -Yummo!

“Make it easy. Make it delicious. Make it with Lucky Leaf”

Have you ever heard of Lucky Leaf Pie Filling?  It's a wonderful brand of pie filling that's been in business since 1949 and is still family owned.  They specialize in a line of Premium Cherry, Apple, Blueberry, Lemon, Red Raspberry, Lite, and Crème.  You can find most of these flavors in your grocery stores allowing you to make whichever type of pie you want quickly and easily.  I recently had the opportunity to try Lucky Leaf's pie filling.  I received 3 different varieties to try: Strawberry, Apple and Cherry pie fillings along with a cookbook containing award winning recipes.  My first take was very pleasant.  The fruit pieces in the pie filling are quality wholesome pieces not tid bits.  Secondly, the filling is of a nice smooth texture and not over done or too much.

The first one I tried was of course one of my favorite fruits, Strawberry!  I used a recipe out of the recipe brochure that had a DYNAMITE recipe for Strawberry Peanut Butter Pie!  I used the strawberry pie filling and made a graham cracker crust.  The recipe called for a cream cheese peanut butter mixture.

It was out of this world!   Fabulous!  You must check it out!!  So, this was a 5 star dish and the Strawberry Pie Filling was off the charts!   Totally recommend everyone checking this recipe out and trying Lucky Leaf.

The second one I tried was the Apple Pie Filling.  Instead of doing another dessert I was drawn more to a dinner dish.  I made Oven Baked Comfort with Pork and Apples

Again with this one the Apples were extremely nice quality pieces.  In fact I probably got better apple pieces in the Lucky Leaf pie filling than I would if I'd of cut up my own apples.  This dish was also great and the pie filling is something I'd write home about.

The third one I tried was the Cherry Pie Filling.  With this one I used another recipe from their website called Cherry Coffee Cake.  While I am not much of a cherry fan, the kids and hubby thought this was very good.   You get nice looking cherries with the Lucky Leaf brand so keep that in mind next time your out shopping for cherry pie filling.

So, if you get a sweet tooth, you might want to try out this recipe too.  Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with the Lucky Leaf brand!  I am a new fan.  One another note you can visit their promotions page here and print coupons and see what's "happening" over at Lucky Leaf!  What do you think?  Have you ever tried Lucky Leaf before? Let us all know in the comment section.

Oven Baked Comfort with Apples and Pork!!

If your looking for something a little different to make you gotta try this recipe!  You can use pork chops, sliced tenderloin or whatever you may have on hand.  I used boneless pork sirloin steaks.  It's super easy and wonderful!!

Ingredients
4 boneless pork sirloin steaks
s/p - meat tenderizer, season all
1 box sage stuffing mix cooked according to box directions
1 can apple pie filling
cinnamon
1 apple chopped, peeled, and cored

Directions

Grab a casserole dish and layer your entire can of apple pie filling on the bottom.  Then sprinkle with a little cinnamon.  Next, season your pork really well and add them to the top of your apple filling.

Then mix your one apple with your stuffing and top your pork with the stuffing.

Cover and bake at 350 for about 45 minutes depending on the thickness of your meat.  I usually cook mine longer.  After that uncover and continue baking and browning until done using a meat thermometer.

snackTAXI Review

If your getting geared up for the summer be sure to check out snackTAXI.  These are wonderful little snack packs for on the go, picnics, games, water parks and more.   Don't mess with those ziplock bags that tear and rip.  Save a lot of money and go a little greener with designer snack bags from snackTAXI.

What is snackTAXI?  Reusable and washable designed fabric bags in different sizes to suit your needs.

What would you use them for?  They have produce bags for when you are out shopping, lunch sacks, sandwich sacks, snack sacks, and twice as nice napkins!

Are they washable? Yes, they can be washed in a machine and dried in the dryer or air dryed.  Although hand washing is recommended for longer lasting.

What are they made of?  100% cotton on the exterior.  The inside is lined with polyurethane coated nylon.

Where can you find them? Snack Taxi's are sold online at snackTAXI.com. they ship to US, Canada, United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia.  They also have a bunch of retail locations where you can find them.

For review the BBQ snack-sack and the apple & pears sandwich sack.  I am really loving these!  They are so easy to work with and quite charming.  Every where we go people are asking us where did you get that cute little bag.  They are quite the trend setters.  SnackTAXI sells a variety of hot colors and designs to suit your taste and style.   We take our snackTAXI virtually everywhere like the park, long car rides, picnics, quickie lunches, bbq's, you name it.   They wash up beautifully (I air dried mine) and easily fit what you want in the bag whether it's a big monster man sandwich or simply a P B & J.

Fun Facts
They add NEW fabrics on the first of every month!!  SnackTAXI has also been featured on the Oprah Winfrey show.  Made in Massachusetts, USA.

Food For Thought
Each reusable bag you use keeps as many as 1000 plastic bags out of the waste stream.  The US alone adds 20 million plastic baggies to landfills every single day.

Basic Graham Cracker Pie Crust

For most of my dessert pies like cheese cake or other, I use this basic graham cracker crust.  You can use the basic mixture of butter and sugar to make yours out of honey maid crackers, cinnamon crackers, pretzels, etc.

Basically what I do is I lay out some wax paper and top it with my graham crackers (about 2 packs of 10) then add another layer of wax paper over that.  I use a rolling pin to crush them.  Then pour them in a bowl.  I mix about 1/4 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup butter with the graham cracker mixture and stir well.  I taste and add more if needed.  Layer it on a pie plate firmly patting it down so that it's flat.  Next cover and refrigerate until you are ready for it.  This is so basic and easy to do that I rarely ever buy store bought graham cracker pie crust.  Plus, I think it tastes so much better this way too!

Enjoy!!

Melitta Review and Giveaway

Who doesn't love (or need) a good ole cup of Joe in the morning?  I know I do to get my gears turning!  While I love trying new things, I am a bit hesitant when it comes to switching up my trusty favorites like coffee.  I received 2 packages of Melitta coffee (Blanc Et Noir and Parisian Vanilla) and a single cup coffee brewer.  Much to my surprise Melitta produced an excellent cup of coffee with brilliant aromas and taste!  I was very impressed.
You may have recognized the Melitta coffee filter in most grocery stores like me.  However, until recently I had never tried their coffee.  Melitta was first started based on the revolutionary design of their coffee filters.  In 1908 Melitta was born from a German Housewife's idea to filter out unwanted residue from coffee.  Through out the years since then Melitta has strived to produce excellent quality coffee filters designed for today's generation along with a premium line of gourmet coffees and coffee makers.

The Cafe Collection Parisian Vanilla that I received was the first one I tried.  It came extra fine ground in an 11oz resealable bag.   I read the back of the bag of both coffees which suggested refrigeration after opening for maximum freshness.   I never knew or thought of this before, but tried it and sure enough it produced the best coffee day after day.  It's nice to have your kitchen brew up a coffee that you can smell lingering in the air before you even try your first cup.  As much as we drink coffee, the 11oz bag of Parisian Vanilla lasted us about a week.  I was sad to see it go.  As I sit here writing this review with an empty bag in my hand, I can still smell the aroma of this wonderful coffee still lingering in the bag.  This is definitely a coffee you'd want to offer to your guests and certainly if you are a coffee lover you should give Melitta a whirl, you just might be a switcher!

The Cafe Collection Blanc Et Noir that I also received came extra fine ground just like the other and in an 11 oz resealable bag.  This is a light and dark roast coffee.  I found this especially good for those morning where I needed an extra "pick me up".  What I liked especially about the Blanc Et Noir is it's the perfect blend of light and dark.  It's light enough for endulging in a few cups yet dark enough that it gives you the perk.

The single cup coffee brewer also known as Ready Set Joe is the bomb!  I can go ahead and tell you that I despise instant coffee.  It doesn't matter what brand, I just can't stand the taste.  However, with the single cup coffee brewer, I can have the best of both worlds!  I get the best coffee that I can make instantly in this coffee brewer without the instant taste.  It's awesome.  If you are like me, and are often the one wanting a cup while everyone else is done drinking coffee, this is the system for you.  It brews up a fabulous cup of coffee for just you without suffering on taste like you do with the instant - stir some grinds that desolve in water types.  This is also the perfect system for those who live alone that never have a need to make a full pot.

Where can you find it?
You can find every product Melitta offers online at their shop - Melitta USA.  They even have a coffee club where you can have coffee delivered right to your door at home or office with convenience.

***Looking for a delicious coffee recipe for a desert or other?  Check out Melitta's recipes using coffee!  Just looking at them makes me hungry!

***One Very Lucky reader from Time 2 Eat Yall will win their very own Melitta coffee in Parisian Vanilla and Blanc Et Noir PLUS the Ready Set Joe!!
